Inversions are often referred to as the “Fountain of Youth” for the multitude of benefits received when practiced on a regular basis. The physical practice of Yoga was created as a means to rejuvenate the body and prolong a healthy life, each asana (pose/posture) offers specific benefits to your musculoskeletal system and internal organs. Inversions are any posture where your head is below your heart. While some inversions are calming, like feet up the wall, other postures are invigorating, like handstand. Inversions stimulate your lymphatic (filtration) system, sharpens focus, gives you a new perspective, builds core strength, creates balance, increases courage, strengthens and lengthens spine, and calms the nervous system.
In this workshop we will review basic anatomy and alignment. Our focus inversions will be headstand, plow, dolphin, shoulder stand, handstand and fish. Benefits and philosophy of postures will be discussed. We will end our time together with a calming guided meditation before savasana with essential oils.
Some yoga experience is recommended for this workshop
